The Arahter

The eighth type in the SP system is the Arahter, the inspirer and that is pronounced ah-rah-ter, with the emphasis on the first syllable. The Arahter is the inspirer who breathes life and hope into ideas, groups and movements. I spent many years working with preschool aged children with special needs. I was inspired everyday by these courageous and resilient little people who never ceased to amaze me. They constantly motivated me to learn and grow in many ways in order to support them in maximizing their potential. As a result I’m very grateful that I have an endless reservoir of memories that provide me with inspiration in my own life when things feel bleak.
Inspiration is a dynamic life force that has the power to grab hold of us and gently take our hand, nudging us to move forward in the direction of our dreams in spite of feeling afraid. I experience moments of inspiration as a breath of fresh air that gently blows through my stream of consciousness. Breaking through the everyday banter and leading me to discover what is going on under the surface in the depths of my heart. This is where one’s truth can always be found in any moment. It’s not always easy to get to this space though, and I find it requires a surrendering of all that I think I know in order for me to hear what the Universe is actually whispering to me.
The voice of our inner dialogue has many scripts and there is an enormous amount of creative power in each of our inner thoughts. Unfortunately though, we end up circling in our life repeating the same patterns and themes over and over again and will continue to do this until we let the part of our self that is directing that specific script die. That is a very challenging thing for creatures of habit to do though. The Arahter within reminds us that if we don’t break out of these inner predictable thought patterns that are often motivated from our fears. We will never give expression to our own Truth and express the unique, creative and powerful voice of our own soul. We will never fully live!
The Arahter within reminds me that my moments of forgetting that I am a spiritual being having a human experience and being in fear is just as profoundly important as the moments that I do remember and experience myself to be in Love. The famous Lebanese poet Kahlil Gibran said “Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding.” When our belief system is challenged we can spend a lot of time and energy defending it as a way to avoid the pain. We do have a choice though and we can also listen for and trust the wisdom of the Arahter within. This wisdom calls us to step into the space of nothingness and be ignited by inspirational sparks and flames from our own awareness of our truth that will light the way for us to encounter the centre of our Being. In this stillness within the depths of our heart we just might find that we are in the same place that life’s magic has been secretly stored in the form of passion. It’s easy to muffle our passion, or worse try to control the expression of our soul by placing limitations on ourselves in order to fit into the world. The Arahter within breathes life into the depths of our soul, revealing our true desires that once we fully feel will guide us every day and in every minute on our journey of consciously co-creating our lives.
The Arahter within reminds us to stay centered within the peace of who we truly are and it takes a bit of practice but it does get easier to remain in this peace. When we can begin to understand and give a voice to the parts of us that up to this point in our lives have only been able to creak and moan. Seemingly haunting us from our painful past echoing the same stories throughout all levels of our being in a quiet desperation to be released into the light of our awareness and healed. The wisdom of the Arahter encourages us to embrace our brokenness and step into forgiveness, so that inspiration can blow through our hearts, feeding the flame of passion that will permeate through all levels of our being. This flow of passion creates a vibrancy and richness in our life that we are all deeply longing to feel. The Arahter within inspires us to breathe in the winds of change that constantly blow through our heart guiding us into the direction of allowing our Soul to fully live!
